Echigo-hime Strawberry

Echigo-hime is a strawberry variant that is grown in cold areas in the Niigata prefecture. These strawberries are juicy and known for their fragrance, low acidity and high sweetness level. The strawberry is not widely distributed as it is soft and fragile.

FARM FACT: The farmer uses a highly scientific and calculated approach to cultivation. Instead of using pesticides, they analyze and observe the environment in their strawberry houses to prevent pest and diseases by creating the optimal growing conditions. Minimum pesticides is used, and chemical pesticides is not used after planting seedlings in the soil.
Natural enemies of pests (which are environmentally and human-friendly) is used to control them instead of harsh chemicals.
